Badass Character of the Month: Mr.2/Bon Clay…Work With Me Here

Hey there AMG Reader. If you don’t know, every month we pick a badass character that we feel encompasses the theme. These characters have stuck out in their chosen anime, manga, or game and they have shown that they truly have what it takes to be considered a badass. Now since this theme is so hectic we had to stretch it to another month and that also means you get TWO BADASS CHARACTERS, which means one for the December reward and the other for January. With that being said it is time we announce our December BCTM Award Winner….

Mr. 2 aka Bon Clay the Ballerina Man

For every One Piece fan out there, you probably know why I am picking Mr. 2, but if you have never seen One Piece you are probably wondering “how can a strange ballerina man with makeup and the inability to shave his legs possibly win the award for being a badass?” Well curious reader let me tell you what makes this guy/girl a true badass.

He Kicked the Crap Out of Some Crazy Ass Pirate

If you don’t know One Piece then let me impart some knowledge on you. One Piece is about pirates and the main characters are the craziest pirates in the entire series. In that series there is a guy named black leg Sanji who only fights with his legs. He kicks people and he kicks them rather hard and in the series he went up against Bon Clay in a foot fighting frenzy that you wouldn’t believe. Now being a main character, Sanji won, but Bon Clay gave him a freaking run for his money. In fact, he even stabbed the guy with swan shoes that pierce through walls.

He Went to the Worst Prison in the World and Was Perfectly Fine

Okay, Deadman Wonderland is the worst prison in the world of anime, but this one is definitely a close second. See in One Piece there is Impel Down, which is a prison that has different levels and each level is worse and worse. Well Bon Clay was in Level 3 of that prison (there are only 5) and in that level you are barely given enough food to survive and you are forced to deal with unbearable heat. It is almost living in a hell on earth, but he was hardly affected. In fact, he spent this time in prison spinning around and doing ballet things to pass the time. Only two types of people could do that; a badass or a guy who is bat crap crazy. For the sake of this article we are going to assume he is the first one.

Helped Stage a Full On Prison Break, Fought a Guy Made of Poison, and Is Still Alive

Death is no stranger in One Piece and Bon Clay decided to spit in its face a few dozen times. He went to the lowest part of prison, met up with some cross dressing transvestite refugees, (seriously One Piece is one pretty messed up series) and he even decided to use his ballerina karate powers to fight a guy made completely out of poison. He did more in a few episodes than I have seen most characters do in an entire series (for example Sakura) and in that time he made cross dressing ballet fighters who like to spin around seem really cool. Bon Clay went from being this weird guy who you soon forgot to a character that defines what it means to be amazing and that is why the winner of the BCTM Award is…..

  4. You forgot the main point that makes him truly badass. He not once, but TWICE stayed behind and let himself be captured, even when it meant certain death, just to let everyone else escape, for the sake of friendship. Geez, when he was captured and faced by Magellan, a guy so strong that he almost killed the protagonist, despite being desperately weaker, he didn’t just surrender, but instead CHARGED HIM FACE ON. Yeah, he’s that badass.
