So, I got to talking to a pretty cool guy yesterday and it made me think about being good enough, reaching new heights and the best way to do it. The cool guy I spoke to said the word “hungry,” which got me thinking about how I started as a freelance writer.
Now, I will be the first one to tell you that my writing isn’t perfect. Hell, it is a miracle that I get paid to write at all and I am still not entirely sure why, but I know how I got into the industry: I was “hungry.” Literally. This isn’t a metaphor, I was actually hungry.
You definitely try any and everything you can to succeed when food is off the table. It will drive you to do some crazy things. So, now that things are a bit more comfortable, I wonder if I am in a position to push myself to succeed.
It’s easy to set arbitrary goals, but it is a lot harder to meet those goals when there isn’t a need to for them outside of general self-fulfillment.
Then again, maybe I am just lazy….yeah…that makes a lot more sense.
With that being said, I think I finally figured out the importance of this blog!
Screw the rules, I can write whatever I want here. This is my company!
Oh…and if you haven’t check out the latest comic short comic on Two Frames Studios called Notice Me Senpai, it is about not being good enough….so you know….check it out and let me know if you like it, or hate it, or read it. The next part is coming at the end of the week.
